Anonymous, Awestruck, and Absolutely Loaded: Arkansas’ Mystery Millionaire Strikes Gold

By the Arkansas Black Vitality Staff April 1, 2026 – An anonymous northwest Arkansas resident who purchased the $250.8 million jackpot-winning Powerball ticket a month ago recently came forward to claim their life-changing prize, Arkansas Scholarship Lottery officials announced this week.

The lucky winner, who selected their own winning numbers ordered via the Jackpocket mobile app for the March 2 drawing, opted to receive the prize as a one-time cash payment of $118 million before taxes.

The winning numbers were 2, 17, 18, 38, and 62, and the Powerball number was 20. The Jackpocket retail location, Winners Corner, is located at 6801 W. 12th St. in Little Rock. The $250.8 million jackpot is the second-largest lottery prize awarded in the state, following the $1.817 billion Powerball win in December 2025.

The winner of that prize ticket, purchased at a Murphy USA gas station in Cabot on Christmas Eve, also chose to remain anonymous and receive the prize as a one-time cash payment. Before taxes, the lump-sum payout was $834.9 million — the second-largest lottery jackpot ever won in the U.S., the lottery said.

Arkansas law allows winners of $500,000 or more to keep their identity private for three years. After that, their names become public. For elected state officials and close relatives, anonymity is limited to six months.

“We’ve been extremely fortunate to have not just one, but two huge Powerball jackpot winners in Arkansas within the last few months,” said ASL Executive Director Sharon Strong. “This month’s win further highlights the lottery’s positive impact on the state. From the retailers who sell our tickets to the students who benefit from lottery-funded scholarships, we look forward to supporting even more ‘big wins’ for Arkansans.”

The $250.8 million Powerball jackpot will benefit Arkansans in numerous ways, according to state lottery officials. During this jackpot cycle, Powerball brought in $2,351,480 in cash sales, and retailers received $121,050 in total commissions. Every Arkansas lottery ticket sold also supports education, with net proceeds funding scholarships for students across the state.

Before the two recent jackpots birthed Arkansas’s newest multi-millionaires, a $25 million jackpot won on January 2, 2010, was the largest prize since the state-run lottery office sold its first ticket on Sept.28, 2009.

Arkansas voters approved a ballot question in November 2008 to legalize the sale of lottery tickets. The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Act creates a state Lottery Commission to oversee the operation of the revenue-generating sweepstakes in the state.
