Community members gathered for the Soul Poll civic engagement event hosted by Gary Connors and Durwin Larry, creating a space for residents to connect with local candidates and discuss issues impacting the city. Several candidates, including Democratic congressional candidate Chris Jones and Bobby Foster, the newly elected Prosecuting Attorney for Arkansas’s 6th Judicial District, stopped by to greet voters and share brief remarks. The event was held in the parking lot of Allison Presbyterian Church, where Judge Marion Humphrey serves as pastor, bringing the conversation directly into the heart of the community.
On Dec. 11, Arkansas Black Vitality celebrated the relaunch of Hearts of Poetry with the talented Erica James at our Author’s Lounge. Fresh off his recent fashion showcase and the launch of his signature fragrance AH, Ashton continues to expand his footprint in the worlds of style and luxury. The event brought together an impressive group of Central Arkansas influencers and cultural leaders, including acclaimed designer Korto Momolu, attorney Keisha Zaffino, and Dr. Teresa Timmons, Director of the Windsong School of the Arts. Over 100 people, including Mayor Frank Scott Jr., numerous local dignitaries, family members, and friends, gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of the late James R. Rodgers Sr., former Executive Director of Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport (1980-1993) and the first African American Executive Director of a U.S. airport. The dedication was held on June 18, 2025.
