March 3, 2025—Arkansans can now download a digital copy of their state-issued driver’s license or ID to their smartphone.
On Tuesday, state officials announced that driver’s licenses and state IDs can now be downloaded as digital licenses or IDs on a mobile device. The Arkansas Mobile ID is a contactless, highly secure, state-approved credential that resides on a smartphone, officials said. It can be presented at participating businesses and venues as a valid form of ID.
“The rollout of a secure mobile ID will help Arkansans access their documents when and where they need them and brings state government in line with 21st century technology,” Gov. Sarah Sanders said in a statement.
“Arkansans will now have quick and easy access to their driver’s license or ID on their cell phone,” said Jim Hudson, Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA). “I encourage Arkansans to take advantage of this free resource as they can control who their information is shared with from the license or ID. It empowers the citizen and ensures a state-issued credential is consistently accessible.”
The State of Arkansas is currently working with the federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to get Arkansas Mobile ID approved for boarding domestic and international flights by this summer, officials said. The state anticipates the list of organizations and businesses that accept Mobile ID will increase over time.
Arkansans can search and download the “Arkansas Mobile ID” app and enroll their digital license or ID. Search “AR Mobile ID” in the App Store or Google Play. The Mobile ID Verify app is a free resource available to any business or law enforcement organization and can be used to confirm an individual’s Arkansas Mobile ID.
Less than 15 states currently offer digital driver’s licenses or IDs, but several states are working toward making this technology available to residents. In addition to Arkansas, neighboring and southern states that offer the service include Louisiana, Mississippi and Georgia. There are also 15 states where digital IDs are accepted at TSA checkpoints and airports.

Meanwhile, the DFA Office also announced earlier this week that an online system is now available to allow Arkansans to make appointments for Revenue Office services. By visiting mydmv.arkansas.gov, Arkansans can set a date and time to visit a local revenue office for any service, from registering a vehicle to renewing a driver’s license.
DFA launched a test of the system in December 2024 at several offices around the state. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with more than 7,000 appointments booked in the test phase.
Although walk-ins will remain an option across revenue offices across the state, the new service is being implemented to save time, officials said. Nearly half of DFA’s 134 revenue offices are now open for appointments, and the remaining offices will be added throughout this year.
